Establishment of ITFC as an Institute of MUST

As our history states, ITFC dates as far back as 1983 when the first ecological survey started in Bwindi and Mgahinga Tropical forests by Dr. Thomas M. Butynski of New York Zoological Society (now Wildlife Conservation Society).

The Institute of Tropical Forest Conservation became an academic unit of Mbarara University of Science and Technology in August 1991. This was effected and signed by the Vice-chancellor or Mbarara University of Science and Technology and the two co-directors of the then Impenetrable Forest Conservation Project (IFCP) to form what is now ITFC.

Attached is a scanned PDF file of the ITFC Project document from 1991.
