The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation has supported ITFC's monitoring activities, as well as workshops for coordinating these in the region, since 2005. The most recent grant started in January 2009 and was focused on emerging threats to conservation values of the Albertine Rift (climate change, population growth, etc.)
